Welcome,

Simply Parents!

Thank you for your registration!

Please read this message in its entirety, even if yours is a returning family.

Thank you for choosing Akron Fossils & Science Center to assist with your educational needs. In the coming weeks and months, you will receive additional information regarding your child’s enrollment. Some of the correspondence may seem redundant; we are always trying to cover all our bases!

Please make sure your email inbox is not full, as email is our primary method of communication! You are always free to call our offices, but as a small business, our staff do not keep full-time office hours and you will most often need to leave a voicemail. Email is the most efficient way for us to relay information to a large group of participants or to answer questions you may have.

If you have opted-in to our text messaging option, you will receive a text message from us in the coming weeks in order to save our new Special Programming messaging line in your contacts.

Once we wrap up the current semester of Simply classes, we will invite you to join our updated Parent Portal here on our website. The Parent Portal is a Simply-exclusive, password-protected one-stop-shop for all kinds of information regarding our Simply program. You can find our school year calendar, participant information letter, code of conduct, and more helpful information in the Parent Portal. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this useful tool!

Please familiarize yourself with the Class Supply List HERE and begin to collect materials for your participant. Some textbooks may be available to purchase at a used book website, but these will be scarce by the middle of the Summer!

Additionally, you may wish to prepare your child for classroom learning if they are not accustomed to the setting. Younger children will need to be able to write their own name and cut with scissors. They’ll need to use the restroom on their own and communicate their needs to their instructor. Middle & Upper-level participants will be expected to recognize when their instructor is teaching and regulate themselves accordingly, making sure to refrain from distracting other participants or exhibiting disrespectful behavior to our staff or to other children. Our full Code of Conduct is available to explore at your convenience HERE.

You will receive correspondence at a future date regarding tuition payments. You may choose to enroll in our monthly invoice program, make periodic payments on your own, or pay your Simply balance in full at any time. You may use our Payment Portal HERE to make a payment online. When classes begin in the Fall, in-person payments may be made ONLY on Mondays & Tuesdays, 8:45am - 8:55am and 3:35pm - 3:45 pm. This is due to our limited staff attending to class needs during class times. ACE funds will not be available for reimbursement of educational program fees during the 2025-2026 school year. We are sorry to see the ACE program come to an end, but we cannot submit any invoices to ACE for the coming school year. If you find that your family is under financial strain at any time, please contact us. We truly wish to serve every family to the best of our abilities. All communications regarding financial matters are confidential and remain exclusive to AFSC administrative staff.

AFSC’s Simply program utilizes Google Classrooms to keep track of class groups, curriculum, in-class and homework assignments, inclement weather days, and participant call-offs. Closer to the start of the school year, you will receive an email message containing an AFSC-exclusive Google login and password for your child. You (or your participant) will use this login to access their Classroom. Instructions for how to use this login to access Classrooms will be included in the email. Some classes will have an online class option if a participant needs to stay home from class! Our Google Classrooms are exclusive to AFSC, and cannot be accessed by anyone outside of our Simply program.
